Even weeds and rocks are beautiful if you really look.
When I first started painting again, after leaving it behind for many years, I was living in a miserable apartment surrounded by strip malls and so much pavement. But I walked around the parking lot every day just to be outside and get fresh air and exercise. And in the small, sad patches of grass I noticed bright wild violets and pink clover. Dandelions and daisies. Amidst the dull, oppressive grayness of the suburban industrial landscape were such delights. Beauty was always there, I just wasn’t looking. Looking changed my life.
